On Monday 21 november Rijk Zwaan officially opened a second breeding station in China. This station is based in Guilin and focuses on the development of vegetables for the southern part of the country.
Rijk Zwaan has been active on the Chinese vegetable market for almost 15 years now and already established a head office and breeding station in Qingdao, in the province Shandong. The new station is located in the province Guangxi, in the southern part of the country.
Profitable vegetable production
“The southern part of China plays an important role in our expansion strategy”, managing director Marco van Leeuwen explains. “In Guilin we can develop and test varieties specifically for this region. Combined with our growing advice, in cooperation with our distributors, we want to develop and increase profitable vegetable production for the benefit of farmers and other stakeholders in the vegetable chain.”
Besides a large number of Rijk Zwaan’s business partners, the official opening was also attended by delegates of several local authorities, who gave Rijk Zwaan full support in setting up this project.
